About
I believe in memory.
Memory shapes a person.
I am also a deeply religious nonbeliever.
The memory and the objects related to it give weight to a person.
It becomes matters effecting the present moments
This body of work is dealing with my loss of family members and the tragic childhood
which defined the first decades of my being
Through the project,
I give these memories a space to become matter itself
then there is a possibility I can be as I am supposed to be.
The making of these projects is a way of exorcising the memories.
As being an observer and the observed for a long stretch of time in these projects,
the observed I (actor) can be free from the actor–observer bias.
The observer “I” is also learning from observing the actor “I” everyday;
these two ends keep the real “I” in balance;
if not so, the “I” tends to fall back into the memory
which has certain power to affect the life I am living.
